AOSR President
I am Professor Noriyuki Tomiyama from Osaka University, and I have been serving as the President of the Asian Oceanian Society of Radiology (AOSR) since 2023. I am pleased and honored to welcome everyone to the 22nd Asian Oceanian Congress of Radiology (AOCR 2024) in Taipei, which is being hosted by the Chinese Taipei Society of Radiology (CTSR). In the past, CTSR hosted the 13th AOCR in 2010 in Taipei and AOCR 2024 was the first time it had been held in 14 years.
On behalf of the AOSR, we would like to express our gratitude to the CTSR for hosting AOCR 2024, and we are excited for another successful event and exceptional experience. I would like to congratulate Professor Hong-Jen Chiou, the President of AOCR 2024 and President of the Chinese Taipei Society of Radiology. I would also like to thank Professor Shu-Huei Shen, the Secretary General, and all the staff members who are contributing to this wonderful congress.
The theme for AOCR 2024 is "The Precision of Radiology." This theme is concise and accurately represents the direction that radiologists should be heading. Over the years, diagnostic modalities such as CT and MR have made significant advancements, and new scanning techniques have improved. These advancements have enabled us to achieve "The Precision of Radiology," which allows radiologists to make valuable contributions to human healthcare.
Taipei is the economic, educational, and cultural center of Taiwan. It is also considered one of the world's major global cities. Needless to say, Taipei is renowned for its gastronomy and I am sure we would all enjoy staying there.
See you at the AOCR 2024 in Taipei.

Operating under the overarching theme of "The Precision of Radiology," AOCR 2024 underscores our shared dedication to elevating the precision and innovation of radiological practices across an array of specialized domains.
Here are some key highlights to our program:
- Joint Symposiums with Regional Societies: AOCR 2024 will feature collaborative programs with multiple Asian and Oceanian regional societies and AOSR member societies, including ASAR, ASTR, IRIA, RST & RCRT, RANZCR, and more. These partnerships align with AOSR's mission to promote academic development in the Asia-Pacific region.
- Global Perspective: We are extending our reach to the international stage by partnering with organizations such as RSNA, ICIS, ISR, and ACR to offer a broader perspective and foster global collaboration.
- Educational Programs with RSNA/AOSR, AOSR/APIWG and AOSR/AOSOR: Our educational programs will continue to uphold the spirit of cooperation within AOSR and promote the future development of radiology in Asia. These programs are designed to enhance knowledge sharing and collaboration.
- Diverse Subspecialty Courses: Our curriculum spans across 10 sub-specialty areas within radiology, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the field.
- AORF (Asian Oceanian Radiology Forum): Continuing the AOCR tradition, we will host AORF, inviting chairpersons from AOSR member countries to discuss topics related to Radiology loading and coverage hours in Asian Oceanian Countries. This forum goes beyond academic discussions to address practical issues and facilitate international exchange.
- Value Based Radiology as well as Career and Leadership Development: In addition to academic content, we have included courses and sessions focused on career and leadership development.
- Conference Highlights: AOCR 2024 will shine spotlights on two critical themes - The development of AI & Safety in Radiology. There is an AI challenge with CT image sets open to all participants and the winners will have awards and presentation slots to share their results.
In conclusion, AOCR 2024 is an opportunity for all of us to contribute to the future of radiology. We extend a heartfelt invitation to be part of this academic expedition.
